Last week I mentioned I’d send a special dispatch on Saturday. Today is not Saturday. Today is Monday and this is that dispatch.
My essay about the Stone Temple Pilots song “Sex Type Thing” is up and it’s pitted against a song by the Throwing Muses. Whoever gets the most votes advances to the next round.
My piece is basically a glimpse at my life in 1992, the year I spent working at Eagles Coffee Pub in North Hollywood. Because Eagles was next to a recording studio I met all kinds of people with strange relationships to fame.
But the crux of the essay explores what happens when two people have a crush on an attractive coffee shop employee and one of those people is a member of Stone Temple Pilots and the other is me.
It’s weird, but you can (and should) vote in two places:
1) The Twitter poll and
2) Online at the March Plaidness website.
These votes are tallied for a grand total.
Voting ends for this round tomorrow morning at 9am Arizona time so get your vote in early as in now. Por favor.
Done and done, Jim! Great essay.
