Greetings from Haymarket, Virginia, where it is currently snowing and snowing and snowing. The wind is blowing and the snow is shooting sideways outside the windows as it piles up in the back yard. I have a bit of news so I’ll keep this short and sweet.
Minutes after I hit send on last week’s newsletter, I received details about a ton of events related to Corporate Rock Sucks: The Rise & Fall of SST Records, which comes out in exactly one month.
I’m thrilled to announce not one but two bonuses for those who preorder Corporate Rock Sucks:
1. Join an exclusive conversation with Keith Morris! On Sunday, April 17, I’ll be chatting with Keith Morris on a Zoom call and you can be there. Those who preorder before April 12 will be sent a link to listen in on our conversation and submit questions to the moderator. The time will be announced once Keith has his schedule for that leg of the Circle Jerks Tour.
2. Read the first chapter of Corporate Rock Sucks! Everyone who preorders will be granted immediate access to the first chapter of the book. The book opens with photo of Greg Ginn during the recording of Nervous Breakdown. He’s playing an Ibanez guitar and isn’t wearing any shoes. The photo was taken by none other than Spot. But why read about the photo when you could be looking at it?
To get your bonuses, simply preorder the book through your favorite bookseller and submit your proof of purchase here. (If you’ve already preordered you can still get the bonuses.) If you have any questions, ask away!
Corporate Rock Sucks Events
In addition to events at The Book Catapult in San Diego on Tuesday April 12 and at Book Soup on Wednesday April 13, that I announced last week, there will be events in Portland, San Francisco, Brooklyn and most likely a few other places.
I’ll also be at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on Sunday April 24. So stay tuned for more details…
Lastly, I want to thank those of you sent me notes about last week’s newsletter. It was a tough one to write and it came from a place of intense emotions. I’m not going to use this newsletter as a therapeutic tool, but I know from corresponding with many of you that being open about grief and COVID-19 has helped some readers deal with similar experiences.
Thanks for reading and if you’re so inclined please share the news with the music lover in your life.
